Connect in a few steps

Copy Riverd's address from Settings, Assistants. In Claude, add it under Customize, then Connectors. In ChatGPT, add it under Plugins, then Add. Riverd then opens so you can sign in and choose what the assistant can do, and emails you that it was connected. You need your own Claude or ChatGPT account, and what you can add can depend on your Claude or ChatGPT plan. Choose what it can do

When you connect, choose Read only and the assistant looks things up and changes nothing. Choose Read and make changes and it can also book, move or cancel a session, log a past session, add a client, send a session's client an intake form, block or remove time off, and write a session's notes. This works the same in Claude and in ChatGPT. Intake forms are for practices in the US, so it can send one only if your practice is in the US. If the assistant says to confirm your practice's country, confirm it in Riverd, then ask again. A separate box, off at first, lets the connected assistant ask Reed, your AI assistant in Riverd, to draft a SOAP note from one session's notes. Each draft uses your AI credits, and nothing is saved unless you ask the assistant to save it.

Changes happen right away, and you can undo them

A change shows up in Riverd as soon as the assistant makes it, and your assistant may ask you to approve it first. You can undo it for 5 minutes, or 24 hours for time off and session notes: ask the assistant, or select Undo under Changes you can still undo in Settings, Assistants. Emails and texts to your client about a change, like a booking notice, wait for those 5 minutes, or until the session starts if that's sooner, so if you undo the change in time, your client never gets that email or text. If the assistant tries to book over another session, a busy time on your Google Calendar or your time off, Riverd refuses it and tells the assistant what's in the way, unless you tell it to book anyway.

What it can see

Every connected assistant, Read only included, can see your schedule and bookings, your services, your time off, the names of your intake forms, and your clients' names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and tags. A connected assistant can read your session notes. It can't read your clients' intake answers. If your Google Calendar is connected, it can also see when you're free, worked out from your calendar's busy times. When it tries to book a time that clashes with your calendar, Riverd tells it when that busy time starts and ends. It never sees event titles or any other details.

Your clients' information and the assistant's maker

Claude is made by Anthropic and ChatGPT by OpenAI. Whichever you connect, its maker handles what it receives under its own terms. Riverd's promises about its own AI cover Reed only, not an assistant you connect, and Riverd can't see, change or delete what an assistant has already received. Check your assistant's settings to see whether it uses your chats to train its models. Disconnect any time

Riverd emails you every time an assistant is connected, with what it can do. To stop one, select Disconnect next to it in Settings, Assistants, and it stops reading your practice data and making changes right away. Changes it already made stay, and you can still undo recent ones. An assistant is also disconnected after 90 days without use, and when you select Sign out everywhere.

Does it work on Riverd's free plan?+

Yes. Connecting Claude or ChatGPT is on every plan: Brook (free), River and Fjord. You need your own Claude or ChatGPT account, and what you can add there can depend on your Claude or ChatGPT plan.

Which assistants can connect?+

Claude, including Claude Code, and ChatGPT. For now, those are the assistants that can connect to Riverd.

Can it change my schedule?+

Only if you choose Read and make changes when you connect it. Then Claude or ChatGPT can book, move or cancel a session, log a past session, add a client, send a session's client an intake form, block or remove time off, and write a session's notes. It can't cancel a session that has started or that you've been paid for, and it can't change payments, refunds, your plan, your API keys or your connected assistants.

Can it read my session notes?+

Yes. Every connected assistant can read your session notes, including one connected with Read only. Riverd emails you the first time an assistant reads a list of your session notes.

Can it read my clients' intake answers?+

No. A connected assistant can't read your clients' intake answers.

What happens to what Claude or ChatGPT receives?+

Its maker handles what it receives under its own terms and the settings you choose with them, which may let the maker keep that information or use it to improve its AI. Check your assistant's settings to see whether it uses your chats to train its models. Riverd can't see, change or delete what an assistant has already received. Can I undo what it did?+

Yes, for a while. Bookings, moves, cancellations, logged sessions, intake forms, new clients and confirmed contact details can be undone for 5 minutes, and time off and session notes for 24 hours. Ask the assistant, or select Undo next to the change under Changes you can still undo in Settings, Assistants. After that, change it back in Riverd the way you usually would.
