About
I have worked in a variety of eating disorder settings including residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. My experience comes from working for the University Health Network, Toronto General Hospital Eating Disorders program, a world-renowned treatment facility with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral therapy. I was a founding member of New Dawn Eating Disorder Program and La Ventana San Francisco division where I played a key role in the planning and development of the nutrition component in both programs. I presently see patients individually, I also conduct meal groups where individuals can get support with their eating.
Patients can toss away their belief that they binge/overeat because they have no self-control. Restrictive eating is what leads to binging/overeating. Clients learn how eating consistently will
help lift their mood and give them
more energy so that they feel more
satisfied in their lives.
I do a Binge Eating Disorder group once a week where clients bring their food to group and learn how to eat adequate portions in a safe environment. They get in touch with their hunger and fullness cues and have a greater consciousness regarding their eating.
