My ideal client is someone who is looking to improve their overall health and well-being with sustainable and realistic changes to their eating patterns. Most of my clients are surprised to discover that the dieting behaviors they have participated in (e.g. restricting calories/macros or avoiding food groups) are actually more harmful to their health than health promoting. I teach my clients how to eat in a way that works best for their individual needs and preferences, remove the guilt associated with eating certain foods, and help them feel confident in their food choices.
I use an intuitive eating approach in my nutrition counseling sessions, which means I take all aspects of well-being into account (such as family/work/life stressors, ability to exercise, sleep quality) when discussing how to improve eating patterns. I also specialize in relieving the symptoms associated with GI conditions such as IBS and IBD.
I suffer from IBS and have engaged in disordered eating behaviors in the past. I know what it feels like to be confused by the abundance of conflicting nutrition information presented everywhere and fearful of eating certain foods.
