A lifetime of experience has taught me that human wellness is a truly integrated field, calling for a head-heart-hands approach. I bring all three to my practice as a birth doula, massage therapist and instructor.Regarding my head, as a doula, an instructor, and/or a massage therapist. My education also includes a MA in Government Administration, and I had a long first career in the Federal Government doing international humanitarian work.My heart and hands have always called me to be of service to others and to bring relief to those who are vulnerable or suffering. In my massage practice (LH Massage Therapy LLC – www.LHMassageTherapyVA.com), I focus on reproductive health for women and prenatal and postpartum well-being for expecting mothers. As a birth doula, I practice with a partner (Nurturing Birth Doulas LLC – www.NurturingBirthDoulas.com) I also regularly support birthing people through pregnancy, labor, and delivery, using massage as in integral part of helping them have an empowered and non-traumatic birth experience.Hoping to share what I have learned along the way, I have also begun teaching a variety of classes and workshops, primarily in the Washington DC metro area and in Anchorage, Alaska. For Claire Marie Miller Seminars, I currently teach Nurturing the Mother®: Fertility, Pregnancy, Labor and Postpartum massage. I also teach LMT continuing education classes at the American Massage and Bodywork Institute in subjects including Deep Tissue Work, Lymphatic Drainage, and Myofascial Release.I have three grown children and a granddaughter, each of whom is a special light in my life. I live in Fairfax, Virginia, and love to spend time in the mountains of New England and Alaska when I can.
