Shaka specializes in massage, movement therapy and corrective exercises, supported by pressure point massage. He has utilized his education and experience to achieve a pain free life for himself and his clients. He works with an array of people including professional athletes, executives, adolescents, geriatric, and special needs. The positive results he sees in his client’s pain reduction and movement capabilities, drives his passion to help others.He believes in the joint practices of western and eastern sciences to treat the body, as the more lenses one can observe the body, the better one can understand it.Prior to founding Medicinal Fitness, Shaka was one of NYC’s most sought after personal trainers and health and wellness coaches. Shaka was also the Fitness Manager at Equinox where he hired, managed and trained other personal trainers.Shaka holds a degree in Kinesiology and several certifications from the National Association of Sports Medicine, Functional Range Seminars, Functional Movement Systems, Precision Nutrition, Evidence Based Fitness Academy, Equinox Fitness Training Institute and specialty certifications ranging from Kettlebells, Stick Mobility, Animal Flow, TRX Suspension Training and Trigger Point Therapy Myofascial Compression Techniques, to name a few.In addition to learning traditional western massage techniques, Shaka has trained in Shiatsu with Master Yoshi Ohashi and Tui na with Master Fukui Yang. He trained as a Massage Therapist for the Joffrey Ballet and has worked as a Massage Therapist for The Well in NYC, and various 5-star hotels around the U.S.
