About
My passion is using Eastern healing methods to enhance my clients' well-being. I was introduced to shiatsu as a college student in Tokyo while training Shotokan Karate at International Christian University. I experienced first hand how shiatsu improves flexibility, speeds recovery time and enhances performance. I studied shiatsu at the Ohashi Institute in NY, where I received my certification in 1994 and then opened my practice. My interest in Asian philosophy, language and culture underlies my shiatsu practice. It enables me to fully use my skills and knowledge to help clients heal, relax, and achieve healthier, happier lives.
My 2 specialties are shiatsu (pressure, stretches & rotation of joints while fully clothed on a floor mat) and Manual Lymphatic Drainage (gentle, focused table work to help reduce swelling/pain due to surgery/cancer). Choose a 60-90 minute session or combine with reflexology, MLD or raindrop technique. I am a Certified Lymphedema Therapist.
Karate and yoga training help me understand movement issues while Zen concepts of mindfulness, balance and meditation bring spirituality to sessions. As a non-smoking lung cancer survivor, I personally experienced how MLD and bodywork enhance healing. Reflexology and aromatherapy studied at the IIR & PIA further improve benefits. I am licensed in DC and NJ.
